OUR HISTORY

From its beginning in 1950, when founder H. B. Smith first began manufacturing steel buildings, Smith Steel, Inc. quickly gained the confidence of its customers and established a reputation for quality and service.

In the beginning, Smith Steel’s business was confined to agricultural-type structures and buildings for the cotton industry. These were designed using primary pipe structures, secondary channel structures and corrugated panels. In the early 60’s the switch was made to primary rigid frame structures and secondary cold-formed purlin-and-girt structures with ribbed panels.

Over the years Smith Steel has designed, manufactured and erected numerous farm shops, sheds, and shop/shed combinations as well as some of the largest and most impressive cotton gins, seed houses and cotton bale warehouses in the South.

Today we offer that same commitment to quality and service for virtually any type of metal building system imaginable; store buildings, manufacturing facilities, gymnasiums, warehousing, churches and mini-storage. The range is limitless!

We continue that tradition still to this day.
